Yiguandao transmits the Tao of transcendence of life and death, conveys the good news of first attaining and then cultivating, believes in The Master of All Souls, promotes the Confucian conformity to True Nature, the Taoist inaction and the Buddhist selflessness, revives the freedom of the soul, and transforms the transience into the eternity. Originating in China, Yiguandao shoulders more than 6,000 years of Tao transmission tradition. In 1886, based upon the concept of Three Poles of Pervating One by Patriarch Wang Jueyi, Tao was officially preached under the name of Yiguandao. Also in the Confucius Analects, Confucius said, "My Tao is the One that pervades all.” These two words, One and pervade (Yi and Guan in Chinese) are the origin of the terminology of Yiguandao, advocating the consistent concept of reaching the Heavenly Tao by doing all in line with humanity. In 1930, Patriarch Zhang Tianran and Matriarch Sun Huiming received the Mandate of Heaven together. Since then, the great tao transmission has spread all over the world. In 1987, Yiguandao was officially and legally registered by the Government of the Republic of China. In 1996, the World I-Kuan Tao (Yiguandao) Headquarters was officially and legally registered in the United States of America. In 2010, in the People’s Republic of China, Yiguandao in a joint effort with the government promoted various cultural activities related to the Classic of Hundred Xiao.
World Honored One, when virtuous men and women generate the mind of Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi, how should they dwell their Bodhi mind and how should they quell their deluded mind? The Buddha said, “Very well! Very well! Subhuti, as you’ve said, the Tathagata guards the thoughts of Bodhisattvas so well and instructs Bodhisattvas so well. Now listen earnestly as I will tell you. The virtuous men and women, who are going to generate the mind of Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi, should thus … dwell, and should thus … quell their mind.
