The Tao of Great Learning lies in manifesting one's bright nature, lies in enlightening the people, and lies in abiding in the perfect virtue. Knowing where to abide in will be followed by concentration. Concentration will be succeeded by serenity. Serenity will then bring relaxation. Relaxation will then open up full awareness. Full awareness will lead to attainment. Everything has its roots and branches. Every event has its end and beginning. Knowing its sequential order of priority will then close in on the Tao. Those of the ancient times who wished to manifest their bright nature to the whole world, first governed their nations well. Wishing to govern well their nations , they first harmonized well their families. Wishing to harmonize their families, they first cultivated themselves. Wishing to cultivate themselves, they first rectified their hearts.
